Certify a dive

A logged dive is your word for it. A certified dive has been confirmed by someone who was there — the instructor, the divemaster or the buddy you dived with. Certified dives carry a teal check in your logbook and count towards the verified percentage in your stats.

Ask a buddy to certify it

While adding or editing the dive, use To certify by and pick who should confirm it.

Search your buddies and select the person. They get a request in their Logbook → Requests tab and confirm it from there.

The two buttons at the bottom cover the cases where that doesn't work:

• Stamp — photograph the physical stamp and signature in your paper logbook.
• Not in Blue Trails? — the person who certified you doesn't have the app; you can invite them by email.

When the verification came from paper, the dive shows Certification Status: Verified with the photo of the log page as the evidence.

Personal details on paper

A dive log page usually carries the certifier's name, membership number and signature. Blue Trails keeps that photo attached to your dive; think twice before posting it publicly.
