Import and export

If you run several centers, or you are setting up a new one that sells much the same things as an existing one, you do not have to retype the catalogue.

Export

On Services or Rentals, Export downloads what that center sells as a spreadsheet — titles, categories, prices and details. Services and rentals share one workbook.

The internal ID column is there but hidden: it is a 24-character string nobody needs to read. Hiding a column does not remove it from the file, so an import still finds it.

Import

Import reads that file back in and creates the entries in bulk. The usual move is to export from one center and import into another, then adjust the prices that differ. Columns are matched by their header, not by their position, so reordering them is safe.

What does not travel

Seasons and schedules stay behind. They belong to the center they were created in, and the dates and departure times of a new location are rarely the same. After importing, go to Seasons and give the new center's services their schedule — until then they sell nothing, because they never reach the calendar.

Good practice

• Export first as a backup before a big change.
• After importing, skim the list and fix the prices that are specific to the new center.
• Then set up the seasons, which is the step people forget.
